May 10: The MRSA Professional Development Day will be held on May 10 at the Al Azhar Shriners Centre, located at 5225 – 101 Street N.W. Calgary. The PD Day Committee is hard at work to ensure that the day will be fun and informative for all. Come out and join your colleagues for this event!
Feb. 17: Deadline for applications to hire a STEP student — MRU has received notification from the Alberta Government that it has been authorized to hire 40 students through the Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP), which has been re-instated for summer 2016 (May 1 to August 31, 2016). Application to hire a STEP participant must be submitted no later than Feb. 17. If you are interested in participating in the STEP program, submit a completed application to the Department of Human Resources by Wednesday, Feb. 17.
Feb. 17: CASL information session — Would you like more information on the new Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and how it may pertain to your business emails at MRU? On Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. in classroom E 177, we will hold a short presentation then an open question and answer period.

Research and Scholarship Days Call for Abstracts deadlines — The Office of Research, Scholarship and Community Engagement will be holding an exposition and celebration of faculty and student scholarship from March 21 to 24. Faculty can share their research in "Lightning Talks" and are asked to submit abstracts to present posters or ignite-style five-minute presentations by Feb. 12. Encourage your students to submit abstracts for a poster and/or oral presentation by Feb. 22. Learn more at research.mtroyal.ca

Ace the case MRU students' Lauren Andrews, Amy Dyment and Amanda Anderson recently won the opportunity to represent Calgary with their team at the KPMG National Ace the Case Competition. On March 4, the team will represent the KPMG Calgary office at the 2016 National Ace the Case competition, via video conference. The winners of the National Competition will go on to represent Canada at the International level in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in April. KPMG is an audit, tax and advisory firm.
Summit magazine garners Grand Gold award at CASE 2016, nominated for AMPA 2015-2016 The 2015 CASE District VIII Communication Awards recognized the 2015 Spring edition of Summit magazine in three categories; most recently announced was a new Grand Gold award for Series of Related Photographs for She Wants You! Join the Chic Geek Revolution. Previously announced: Gold, Print General Interest Magazines, circulation 30,000-74,999; Gold, Series of Related Photographs category for the "She wants you!"; Bronze for Magazine Cover. Summit is also named a finalists in the 2015-16 Alberta Magazine Awards (AMPA) in the category of Digital Presence Website for mtroyal.ca/summit.
