April 2015, Vol. 1 No. 2
Spring is in the air!
Spring is my favorite time of year. It's about starting fresh and getting ready to get out and enjoy the summer sunshine. The snow has melted in Calgary and the geese are back by the pond at MRU.

A few weeks back on March 20th, was International Day of Happiness. I read once the key to happiness is "someone to love, something to do, and something to look forward to." I think happiness is also about being grateful and I'm grateful for MRU. Like all of you I'm a former Mount Royal student but unlike most of you I never left. Mount Royal has given me something to love, something to do and something to look forward to.

In this month's issue of True Blue you'll read about the Interior Design Alumni Chapter event held last Thursday
and we'll give you some tips on how to take advantage of our LinkedIn Group. You'll be inspired by one alumna who moved back to her hometown in the North West Territories to give back and you'll get to know a little about our The Junction alumni ambassadors. We'll always include a list of the various events, learning & volunteer opportunities open to alumni, plus useful links to alumni benefits and services.

Alumni Groups
The Interior Design Alumni Chapter hosted Primarily, It's a Party! on Thurs. April 2. This fundraiser event has been running for over 25 years and is known in the interior design industry as the "party of the year". It's a great event for meeting/networking with interior design alumni and students, and keeping up with industry trends.

In the last five years, the Chapter has raised over $70,000 for the interior design department and has funded dozens of bursaries for incoming students. Last year the party raised enough funds to purchase grad rings for the entire 2014 Bachelor of Applied Interior Design class!

Primarily, is a perfect example of what our Alumni Groups can accomplish by combining networking opportunities, philanthropy an d the alumni-student-professional connection into one fun evening. Click here for a social snapshot of the evening's festivities.

Want to establish or join an Alumni Group? Email James Parsons, coordinator Chapters & Branches: jjparsons@mtroyal.ca.
