On Sunday, July 3, almost all of our Fort McMurray guests will be leaving our campus — the temporary home for as many as 600 people starting on May 8th.
Employees, alumni, students and community members went above and beyond to help these individuals and families. This included quickly and effectively arranging for housing and meals. Many areas opened up their facilities and services for guests to enjoy. Different departments came together to problem solve unique situations. And many people volunteered, delivering newsletters, working in the reception centre and providing directions to new arrivals.
Our campus was kind, compassionate and welcoming.
A huge thank you to those on the front-lines, in particular Residence Services staff who provided housing and Hospitality Services who worked alongside our Dana Hospitality partners to provide meals. Areas like Recreation, the Library, Wellness Services and Continuing Education provided access to a wide range of facilities, activities and staff. And behind the scenes, Facility Management, Financial Operations, Information Technology Services, Risk Services and Marketing Communications were on hand to make sure everything went smoothly.
Thank you Mount Royal University campus!
