Showing appreciation
Voltaire once said, “Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.” With Valentine's Day and Family Day coming up in February, there are no lack of occasions to show appreciation to those who have propelled us forward with love and support. As I am setting aside some time to spend with family and friends to mark the occasions, I also want to take a moment here to express how grateful I am for getting to know you, our alumni, through the inspirational stories you have shared with us over the years. From small acts of kindness to big ideas on making a positive impact in your community, we are always going to be a cheerleader for your success and a genuine support to help you reach your full potential. If you're looking for ideas to show appreciation this month, consider nominating an MRU alumni member who might have inspired you or made a positive difference in your life. Nominations for the Alumni Achievement Awards are open until February 25, and we hope you’ll take the opportunity to help us recognize our outstanding alumni.

Thanks to everyone who came out to cheer on your Cougars at the Crowchild Classic on February 2! We were treated to two exciting games, with the Cougars women’s hockey handily beating the UCalgary Dinos 3-1. An intense men’s game followed, going into double overtime. The Dinos took it in the end with a final score of 4-3, but our boys put up a great fight. There are still plenty of opportunities to cheer on your Cougars. Show your alumni card for $7 tickets to any Cougars game. Check out the game schedule and catch a game with the family.
