Announcements
PokémonGo comes to campus
Mount Royal has emerged as a great place to hunt Pokémon, and there are a number of PokéStops on campus (often with lures!). It's rumoured that you can find a Dratini - we have at least one confirmed sighting - and there are also endless amounts of Pidgeys and Zubats lurking about. Security Services has created this guide of safe Pokémon gaming tips for trainers trying to "catch 'em all."
Main campus closed for electrical shutdown Aug. 6 and 7Building Operations has scheduled an ENMAX 12-hour electrical shutdown in the main campus building, starting at 8 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, Aug. 6 and continuing until 8 a.m. the morning of Sunday, Aug. 7. There will only be emergency power available during this time and the main campus building will be closed. Please remember to empty your fridges! More info can be found on MyMRU announcements.

Two new ways to communicate to employees
Employees don't like receiving a lot of non-essential emails so last academic year emails to all employees were reduced to ones e needed to do your job, to respond to an emergency or to be informed from executive about University strategy. This will continue to be the case, with a couple of exceptions.
1. At the start of each semester, areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing activities for the semester. Employees wanting updates can sign up for a distribution list, such as Google Groups, which is managed by the area. Send these emails to marketingandcommunications@mtroyal.ca.
2. Every two months, an email with institutional-wide events for employees will be sent out. The information (name of event, date, time, place, brief description, free/tickets, contact for more info) should go to marketingandcommunications@mtroyal.ca and deadlines for submissions are:
Aug. 22 for events in Sept. and Oct. — out Aug. 24
