Gotta share!
This issue of True Blue is all about sharing! I believe the collective is better than the separate and two heads are better than one. The ability to access and share information is one of the greatest benefits of the digital age. Ironically, what I believe is so great about digital is that it enables us to stay connected and find people to collaborate with face to face. Alumni Relations is really all about sharing. We meet and work with MRU departments and faculties to bring information, events and programs to you. We organize alumni volunteer opportunities and leadership with faculty and other departments like Open House , The Junction and the Harry G. Schaefer Mentorship program, so you can share your story and expertise with current and future students. The best part about sharing is it’s two-way. So, share with us! Talk to us on Twitter and in our LinkedIn Group. Let us know your favourite True Blue section and the types of alumni programs you'd like to see. What's the gap in your life that we can help fill? Share it with me — Have Tea with Tierney.

What's new in Alumni Relations
|
Inspiring prospective students to see MRU is the perfect fit at Open House
For the first time, we invited alumni to volunteer at MRU's annual Open House on Sat., Oct. 24. We had several alumni come out to chat with prospective students and their families about where their Mount Royal education has taken them. It sounds like the prospects were inspired, and the alumni had a blast!
"It was truly a pleasure and and honour to participate at the MRU Open House!" - Michael Parker, Interior Design '71, senior interior designer, DIALOG design
" I had an absolutely fabulous time, and it was great talking to so many perspective broadcasting students and their parents!" - Shamus Neeson, Broadcasting diploma '05, event coordinator, donor relations coordinator, Canadian Blood Services & announcer/producer, Jim Pattison Broadcast Group
If you'd like to volunteer at next year's Open House and share your story with prospective students, contact Tierney at tedmunds@mtroyal.ca or 403.440.7724

The Summit team is looking to write a student awards story on a recent (last five years) MRU alumnus/a. If you didn't apply for awards because you felt you wouldn't qualify based on your grades or financial need, or if you did apply and received more funds than expected and are interested in being featured in the University magazine Summit, let us know.
